3rd Annual Creative Chicks

3RD YEAR IN A ROW BABY!

Creative Chicks is an art event designed to support women artists by providing them with a platform to exhibit their artwork, connect with others, and savor great company. This event is an annual tradition, and this year, in commemoration of Women's History Month, we've chosen to host it in March. Below, you'll find a video recap of the inaugural Creative Chicks event.

This year we decided to expand on the types of art forms shown at Creative Chicks. We had a talented live spoken word performance by Maria Burgos. We got to witness her powerful voice through her versus, both rehearsed and freestyle. Her performance was made even more powerful due to the performance of Flora Dizon, who did body shapes along with Maria’s Spoken word performance. To Close the event, we had an amazing live performance by Shenna, her voice was both powerful and soothing as she sang both covers songs by different artists as well as her own original songs.

Maria Burgos

Born and raised in Washington Heights, New York, María started writing poetry at the young age of 8. Her poetry is written for those who feel voiceless and misunderstood. As a rebellious womanist she takes pride in using her vulnerability and compassion as her strength. She vows to remain fiercely honest and dangerously loud through her work. Follow her on Instagram @mariase.fue

Flora Dizon

Is all about women supporting women and views the female body as an art. She likes to make and express art through modeling with her own body by creating different shapes angles and curves. Dizon is all about becoming one with her surroundings and one with nature. Creating fine art through nudity is such a peaceful & empowering feeling for her.

Shenna Somsmieh

Shenna Somsmieh, known by her stage name Shenna, is a singer, songwriter, actress, dancer, and model who has performed in front of thousands across the North American and Europe. October of 2016, her first album "Made Of Gold" was released and landed over 20,000 streams on Spotify's Discover Weekly playlist. SHENNA is apart of The Music Playground, landing major sync licensing placements, including several records from her studio album, Made of Gold that were featured on the 2017 Season of "The Bad Girls Club", Netflix Film "Miss Stevens", Teen Mom OG, and MTV's "Finding Carter Season 2". She has received notable press on MTV.com, Examiner, MeFeater, Highs Nobiety, V Magazine, The Singers Room, Billboard, and more.

Throughout the event we had live painters, painting for the people in attendance to witness. Amara Skye, Pamela Cooper, Ashlie Juarbe and Vanessa Melo were apart of the live painting segment. They got to show off their skills to other artists while also appreciating the art. After they finished creating their master pieces, we had a live auction to sell their art. Each piece put for sell in the live auction was sold.
