Women’s Innovative Art Exhibit Will Nurture Your Soul
Renowned New Jersey artist Gladys Barker Grauer and Adrienne Wheeler have launched a “Women in the World: A Visual Perspective” Innovated Art Exhibit presented by the Women In Media Newark. The exhibit aims to give voice to an international collection of female artist who provide their unique interpretations of the theme. Grauer and Wheeler asked each artist to depict the theme by stating: “Through much of the world, women and girls are objectified, discriminated against, and subjected to intimidation and emotional, physical, and sexual abuse. Despite social, economic, and educational subjugation, women in every corner of the planet are strong, innovative, resourceful, and determined to triumph over adversity . . .” Artist were then required to submit work that either literally or metaphorically related to the theme.
Over forty of the most astounding women painters, photographers, and printmakers in New Jersey responded to the Women in Media Newark’s invitation requesting the artwork. They were then tasked with the difficult process of selecting artwork for the exhibit from more than 200 exquisite pieces. The exhibit features many highlights and exciting works in varied mediums, and techniques including photography, prints, mixed media, sculpture and oils.
“Women in the World: A Visual Perspective” is scheduled all throughout March and featured in the New Jersey Performing Arts Center’s, Rutger’s Paul Robeson Art Gallery, and Pollak Gallery at Monmouth University. Be sure to check out event information at http://wim-n.com
