What Are Your New Years Resolutions For 2018?
I cannot be more excited to put 2017 behind us. We have been through a lot of shit as women and citizens of this country. I, for one, feel stronger for making it through one hell of a year and ready for a new one with a fresh start. So I’m brainstorming ideas for 2018 New Years Resolutions. Here’s what I have so far.
Women in the media this year have provided us with a fantastic example of how to speak up and how to force people to listen with the Me Too movement and having the courage to tell the truth about the industry. Their bravery has now held the entertainment industry to a higher standard. This movement and change of culture has impacted so many. So let’s bring that level of integrity to our personal lives.
I think we all understand the importance of knowledge in this political climate. The only way to guarantee that this country heads in the direction we want it to is to educate ourselves on our country’s policies. To ensure no bill is passed without understanding the details and repercussions.
Vote & Call Your Representatives
This takes speaking up one step further. If we learned anything in 2017, it’s that every vote counts. Your voice is important and we have to make sure that it is heard. Don’t skip out on local elections. Change starts from the bottom and we will work our way up. And call your Senator when you don’t agree with something. We can no longer afford to be quiet.
I am a true believer that empathy is a powerful thing. Empathy can create change. We need to take care of ourselves, there’s no doubt about that but it is always beneficial to look at a situation from a different perspective. If we take the time to sympathize and understand another point of view, the more we will be able to work together.
I’m ready for ya, 2018. What about you?
