It’s taken more then long enough for Viola Davis to get the Oscar award that she rightfully deserves, and Sunday night proved that it was not won in vain. The actress took to the stage looking as stunning as ever and delivered one of the most poignant and memorable speeches of the night.

Davis was more then moved by this honor and her speech showed not only her gratitude, but also her passion for the art of acting and what it means to be an actress. Davis has been turning out stellar performances after stellar performances for both television and film. Her show How to Get Away with Murder has been a staple of primetime television ever since it started airing. Her film performances have done nothing less then deliver, from her Oscar nominated role as a concerned mother in the religious drama Doubt, to her performance that proved worthy of the golden statue in Fences.
Davis has proved time and time again of her abilities as an actress and her performances have stuck with viewers for years to come. Her win last night did not go without notice as the entire room erupted in a standing ovation for the emotional actress.
