The Tonight Show Brings On A Transgender Comedian To Respond To Recent Trans Ban In The Military
It’s no secret for any Americans today, as the after effects of President Donald Trump’s policy of banning transgender Americans from serving in the military continues to ensue reactions both within the country, and across the globe. Many platforms and companies have come forward expressing their distaste over the policies unethical stances. Reactions have also hit the late-night TV spectrum, specifically on The Tonight Show With Jimmy Fallon.
Fallon decided to give the opening monologue spotlight to transgender comedian, and Tonight Show correspondent Patti Harrison, to hear her voice and her thoughts on the recent policy. Harrison blended both her comedic chops, and real world wisdom into her speech. Making points to the president throughout such as,
"As a trans person, it's hard to articulate exactly how I feel, but I guess if I had to describe it, I'd say, ‘Donald, you're so stupid. You are so stupid. You're lucky you're so hot,"
"Now, I don't necessarily want to serve in the military, but I want the right to serve, you know,. "It's like, I don't want to go to your baby shower, but I want the invite."
Harrison continued her speech, and ended it with a bang, just like in the beginning. Comedy has always been one of the most unlikely heavyweights to respond to political media, but there’s no doubt that it keeps us all in the loop. Most importantly, it keeps us informed.
