Grace Kelly

This aquamarine silk column dress was worn by Grace Kelly at the 1955 Academy Awards to accept her Best Actress Award set the bar for expensive Oscar dresses to come.  It was $4,000, which was very expensive at the time. Edith Head designed the dress.

This custom-made taffeta Vera Wang gown, worn by Knightley at the 2006 Oscars made history when she later donated it to Oxfam, which auctioned it for $4,300. The dress cost $39,00.

Blanchett's entire Oscars 2014 look, including the gown, the shoes, and the jewelry, came out to  $18.1 million. This Armani Privé dress was embellished with hundreds of Swarovski crystals and cost $100,000.
