Sofia Vergara Creates Underwear Line For A Good Cause
Actress Sofia Vergara can now add designer to her resume. The Modern Family actress is coming out with her own subscription-based underwear company called EBY. EBY will deliver undergarments monthly, bi-monthly or quarterly and will donate 10 percent of its sales to the Seven Bar Foundation. This foundation is a nonprofit organization that provides financing to underprivileged women looking to start or grow their small business.
The co-founder of the Seven Bar Foundation, Renata M. Black, spoke about the EBY line. Black is also Vergara's business partner for EBY and spoke about Vergara as a businesswoman.
"When Sofia and I met it was clear that EBY was an extension of her — powerful and provocative. Sofia has a deep appreciation of what it takes to become a successful woman in business, and it was only natural she would create this entry point for other women."
Vergara told Refinery 29 in an interview about the women she would be helping with EBY. These women living in poverty are often a very important force in their family and have to endure many hardships because of where they live.
Vergara wants to give these women the resources to “help themselves, to save some money, to be able to have more control of their lives.”
"I have had the luxury of being able to grow my ideas into successful business ventures over the past 10 years. I want to be able to pass that on to other women in need. I want to be able to provide women with the tools to start their own business as an exit out of poverty. EBY does that with its micro-financing model. There's nothing sexier than being your own boss."
