Slaying Your Makeup Without Brushes
When I was 15-years old I tried on makeup for the first time… and got in trouble for it. In reality I played with makeup since I was a child but never actually wore makeup until I was 15. It started with me getting to school and my friends deciding they wanted to do my makeup (PSA: DO NOT USE OTHER PEOPLE’S MAKEUP.) But I didn’t really start getting into makeup until I was in my late teens/ early 20s. Since I didn’t really know much about makeup, I spent way too much money on makeup tools such as brushes (which I had no idea how to use back then.) What I didn’t know then that I do now is that we are born with a multi-purpose makeup tool… our fingers.
Using your fingers to apply makeup can save you a lot of money in the long run and if done right can look just as good as if you used brushes. You can use your fingers to apply liquid foundation, concealers, eyeshadows, blush and maybe certain lipsticks. Not to say makeup brushes aren’t worth the purchase but when you’re first starting out with makeup brushes and aren’t sure how to use them, you should know that you can always use your fingers.
If you’re going to try using your fingers to apply your makeup, first thing you need to do is wash your hands. So now when doing eye-shadow you want to start with your index finger of your dominant hand to apply, if you want to go for a smoky look you would then use your middle finger to smoke out the shadow. For highlighting inner corners, it’s best to use your pinky finger. For concealer, warm the concealer by rubbing it between your thumb and ring finger, this will help with blending application. Apply the concealer gently with the ring finger under your eyes. With foundation you can use your whole hand, again the warmth of your hand will help the foundation blend easier. With lips, you might not need to use your hands but you can, it’s all about things your own way
