Simone Biles Opens Up About Medication And Therapy
Olympic gold medalist, Simone Biles, announced on Good Morning America that she treats her anxiety with medication and goes to therapy on a regular basis.
“…I had a lot of ups and downs throughout the year and trying to figure out what was wrong,” Biles replied when Robin Roberts asked her how she's been able to handle the emotional rollercoaster connected to the Larry Nassar scandal. “It’s not easy but the people surrounding me are some of the best so it makes it a little easier,”
Biles came forward as one of the dozen gymnastic that were sexually abused by now-incarcerated sports doctor Larry Nassar. Nassar was jailed for 60 years for possessing child sex abuse images and has also admitted assaulting gymnasts. The 21 year old, who also landed the coveted spot on ESPN The Magazine's year-end issue, been very outspoken about mental health. In 2016, she announced that she had ADHD and it sent a powerful message about mental health and sports.
