Shedding Those Extra Holiday Pounds: The Biggest Mistakes You Could Make
The holidays are a time filled with cheer, family, and tons of delicious food. Turkey, mashed potatoes, casseroles, pies, cookies, chocolate candies, and peppermint hot chocolates are all around us. Sometimes, we start the new year a few pounds heavier and make our resolution to get back into shape. That's perfectly fine and normal, but try not to make the most common weight-losing mistakes of all time.
The data has always been consistent on this trend. It doesn't work. Starving yourself for a month or two will probably help you lose weight initially, but it will all come back in half the time as soon as your diet ends. Instead of starting that cayenne-pepper-lemon-water diet, just start making healthier diet changes. Eat less carbs, choose more salads, and start living on a diet that will keep you healthy. The weight will shed slow and steady, but it will stay off, and you'll be an all-around more healthy person!
The best way to lose weight is to combine a good amount of exercise and healthy eating habits. That's the big secret: there is no big secret. Exercise! If you don't exercise for at least three days a week, your body will never tone the way you want it to. Set aside an hour for exercise three days a week to do some cardio, burn some calories, and work out your muscles. You dream body is just squats and sit-ups away!
Binging At Midnight
If you don't eat all day and go home starving, you are way more likely to order that giant pizza. The secret is to snack on healthy treats all day. Bring carrots, almonds, sunflower seeds, kale chips, or raisins to work with you and munch on them when you're feeling in need of an energy boost. Don't try to make it through the day on minimal food. You'll more than likely give in to intense hunger and cravings, which will counteract all your hard work.
The biggest mistake of all is giving up the fight. It's hard to stay motivated to keep eating right and working out, but you are guaranteed to get healthier and more fit if you just stick with it! The more you exercise, the more you will crave doing it again. The healthier you eat, the better you will feel and the less likely you will be to slip back into bad habits. Keep going girl! The only person holding you back is you!
