Robert Irwin Makes his Late Night Debut
Steve Irwin, or as we all remember him as “The Crocodile Hunter” was a beloved staple of the Discovery Channel. He would continuously have us glued to our televisions as we watched him take on some of the most dangerous animals in the world, and share with us fun facts and his overall love and appreciation for animal life. His tragic death more then ten years ago was mourned around the world, and all of us had drawn tears when his young daughter Bindi gave a touching speech honoring her father and expressing how much he influenced her throughout her life.
Now, Irwin’s youngest son is following in the footsteps of his late father in the late night TV world. Robert Irwin took to the Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon to show the host some of his favorite animals including an armadillo, a dwarf crocodile, and a red-tailed boa constrictor. The host seemed to be a little on edge when he had the boa around him, but he quickly had cuddle relief afterward from a cute sloth. Fallon expressed to Robert how much he is like his late father saying,
"It's so cool to see you like this. You're actually your dad."
Steve Irwin was on the Tonight Show way back in the day when Jay Leno was still hosting, and just like his son got to share some of the animals he works with. Robert expressed how blessed he felt being able to practically grow up in the Australian zoo throughout his childhood. Robert also expressed how the Tonight Show was such a big place for the family saying,
"My dad was actually on The Tonight Show quite a while ago and it’s really nice to be able to follow in his footsteps,"
It’s great to see the legendary Irwin name is still going strong so many years later, and that the love of animals is still evident in a big way. Can’t wait to see what other wildlife adventures you’ll be up to in the future Robert!
