It may seem that like all companies and organizations are out to exploit people and their images. The blog 'Operation Beautiful' has vowed to encourage and uplift you when you need it most. Their mission,
"Transforming the way you see yourself: one note at a time."
Operation Beautiful has one goal and that is to end negative talk. It aims to help women and girls feel better about their bodies. Everyone can participate in the operation all you need are some post-its. Take a post-it; write a positive message, post the post-it in a public place and you are done. That positive message may be what someone needed to read at that moment to help him or her get through the day.
The blog started in 2009 by Caitlyn Boyle. In her blog, Boyle states why she wanted to start Operation Beautiful here's what she had to say,
"I began Operation Beautiful because I am dedicated to ending negative self-talk in girls, woman, and men. Through Operation Beautiful, I hope we can all encourage a positive body image in ourselves and others. I truly believe that your beauty comes from the inside, and your unique qualities that make you YOU should be valued and celebrated."
Positive body image is something very hard for people to have nowadays. With images of "the perfect body" being shoved in our face on television it is hard for someone to view themselves as beautiful. According to dosomthing.org, only 5% of women naturally have the "beautiful" body type portrayed in media. 91% of women, according to the site, are unhappy with their bodies and Operation Beautiful is trying to lower those numbers. They want to spread love to women by saying,
"You’re beautiful, powerful and important to the universe, so never give up".
