NYFW Puts On #MeToo Fashion Show
The #MeToo movement swept social media when the hashtag started trending last year. The
phenomenon inspired a fashion show at this year’s NYFW. It was a beautiful tribute to survivors
of sexual abuse.
The show was planned and put on by French designer Myriam Chalek, creative director of the
brand American Wardrobe. Models walked down the runway twice, first wearing angel wings
and then handcuffed to men wearing pig masks. Afterwards, the models stood on stage and
shared their stories with the audience about their experiences being sexually abused.
The show was empowering and the brave models who walked served as a reminder that sexual
abuse is everywhere and does not discriminate.
