Model Iskra Lawrence Shared A Post On Instagram About Body-Positivity
The model posted some throwback pictures and explaining how different she looks from then and now because of digital retouching.
“I might look different because I was a few dress sizes smaller but the main difference is...I’m HEAVILY retouched,” she wrote in her Instagram caption. “That smooth a$$ skin? Not mine-- a computer program did that. The full thick hair--extensions. Push up bra. Waist + legs + arms slimmed with a Photoshop tool. No eye bags, well actually no nothing that makes me resemble the real me. And the WORST thing about it...I WANTED TO LOOK LIKE THIS!!!”
Lawerence states that the photo was taken six to seven years ago.
Lawerence further explains:
“I thought if I had ‘perfected’ images (like the ones I saw of other models) that I would book more jobs = would make me more happy and successful. When in reality seeing retouched images of myself gave me more insecurities and body image issues because I couldn't even look like or relate to the image of myself!”
Lawerence in this photo embraces her imperfections.
The activist and Aerie model, made headlines last year when she stripped down in the New York City subway to make a point about body-positivity. After 13 years of body dysmorphia and crash diets, Iskra Lawerence is the happiest and healthiest she has ever been.
Cheers to her for keeping it real about “perfection.”
