Mercury In Retrograde – DOs & DON'Ts
Mercury has entered retrograde and so communication is all screwed up. Now, you hear about the technology glitches but Mercury rules all communication, especially the way we communicate ourselves. Even down to the way we speak. You may really feel like you’re not connecting with people during this time and the fact of the matter is you might not be. Be prepared for a lot of misunderstandings until April 15th when Mercury returns to its normal route.
But just because we are on pins and needles, doesn’t mean we can’t thrive through this season. So here are some Dos & Don’ts of Mercury in retrograde.
Don’t start any new projects.
Mercury in retrograde is simply not the time for execution. With communication on the fritz, you are far more likely to let something slip. You don’t want to begin a project on the wrong foot and then fight a “one step forward, two steps back” momentum.
Do take the time to brainstorm.
However, it’s a great time to collect your ideas and maybe even start some organizing. When retrograde is over, you’ll be all ready to execute your new project. Take this time to fine tune.
Don’t make any final decisions.
Stay away from committing to anything during this time. Deals are prone to fall through when Mercury is in retrograde. Nothing is as solid as it seems. And you may be the one unsure of what you’re agreeing to. You don’t want to be the person who drops the ball.
Do think about what you want.
Take the time to really think about what is important to you. This is a great time for self reflection and the clearer you are about what you want, the better decisions you will make when the time comes.
Don’t try to connect with people
This sounds so bad, I know! But people are confused and don’t know what they want. Retrograde brings misunderstandings and when we don’t understand, we tend to get aggravated. And if you’re really pushing to connect with someone, you will most likely be met with confusion and frustration. DO NOT DATE DURING THIS TIME. So not the drama.
Do Revel in Your Alone Time
Mercury in retrograde is really the best for spending time alone. It’s basically an excuse to stay in, treat yourself, and value your own company. When we are being pulled in a million different directions, it’s hard to not feel guilty about carving out time for ourselves. Remember: Mercury in retrograde affects everyone, so everyone will be thankful for a little peace and quiet.
Don’t obsess over what’s going wrong.
Things will probably not go super smoothly these next few weeks. But that does not mean over analyze everything that is happening. Don’t get in your head about retrograde. It is not the end of the world; it’s literally a part of life. Don’t think you can’t handle the hiccups because you can.
Do forgive yourself and review habits.
As I said before, retrograde really is perfect for self-reflection and while you have your alone time, take the space and time to forgive yourself for any of your shortcomings. And most importantly, review your old habits. Do you keep making the same mistakes? Dating the wrong people? Jumping to conclusions? Forgive yourself and move on.
Think of retrograde as one long pause before the next big thing. Work inward now and be as ready and as healthy as you can be when Mercury is back on track.
