Katy Perry Is Releasing New Music And We Are Squealing
It seems like it’s been forever since we’ve heard anything new from Katy Perry and that’s probably because it has. With the exception of her August single, the pop singer has been MIA from the music scene since her last album, Prism was released in 2013.
Yesterday, February 6th, it was announced by Billboard that Katy Perry would be joining the likes of Beyoncé, Adele, Carrie Underwood, The Weeknd, John Legend, and others to perform at the Grammy Awards this weekend. When Billboard announced Katy Perry’s performance, they revealed a bit more information than they were meant to.
Katy has been sharing bits an pieces of her time in the recording studio and teasing us with potential new music for months, however she has yet to tell us when any of it will drop. Billboard reported that a new Katy Perry song titled “Chained to the Rhythm” is set to be released this Friday and that she would likely perform the song on Sunday at the Grammy Awards. Though this information was quickly taken down, fans were quick to get a screenshot and spread the information to their other Katycats.
It seems likely that Katy is ready to hit the charts again by her recent changes to social media photos and banners and her most recent Instagram post captioned, “New life who dis”. “Chained to the Rhythm” is rumored to feature Skip Marley (Bob Marley’s grandson) with Mike Will Made It, Max Martin, and Savan Kotecha producing and for the love of all that is Katy, we hope these rumors are true.
Fans have been waiting ~patiently~ for the release of Katy Perry’s new music and this could finally be song (and possible new album?!) we’ve all been waiting for.
