Kate Spade’s Tribute At New York Fashion Week Was Memorable, She Will Be Missed

In June, fashion designer Kate Spade, known for her preppy bags and clothing, was found dead of an apparent suicide in her New York City apartment at the age of 55. This past New York Fashion Week was with first one without her, but it was clear that her brand’s legacy will forever live on after she was honored with a touching tribute on her Spring 2019 runway last Friday.

The fashion show took place at the Celeste Bartos Forum at the New York Public Library and featured models in extremely colorful and bright prints, which are the foundations of which Spade’s brand was built on. It represented her life message, which was to bring sparkle and playfulness to both fashion and in the everyday lives of women who wear her designs.

There was a notecard placed in each seat with the quote, “She left a little sparkle everywhere she went." There was also a path of glitter along the runway which the models walked to further pay respect to Spade and her legacy.
