Kanye West Meets With President-elect Trump To Discuss Chicago
Kanye West has been having a very eventful 2016. On Tuesday, December 13th, Kanye West paid president-elect Donald Trump a visit at the Trump Tower in New York City. This visit is coming a few days after Kanye was released from the hospital after being treated for a mental breakdown.
Reporters were ready at Trump Tower to capture the Chicago rapper and president-elect greeting each other at the lobby, before going up for their meeting. Trump told reporters at the tower that he and Kanye have been "friends for a long time." Kanye did not say anything to reports, but talked about the meeting in a series of tweets.
He tweeted "I wanted to meet with Trump today to discuss multicultural issues.” “These issues included bullying, supporting teachers, modernizing curriculum's, and violence in Chicago.” "I wanted to meet with Trump today to discuss multicultural issues," he added. "I feel it is important to have a direct line of communication with our future President if we truly want change."
A few celebrities have spoken out about the meeting and one of those people is John Legend. In an interview with FACT magazine Legend stated, "I think the things he’s promised to do have been very concerning for a lot of people and for Kanye to support that message is very disappointing." Legend was not the only person disappointed by Kanye. Millions of Hip Hop fans were surprised when Kanye declared his support for the president-elect during a recent concert.
CNN got word from a source with exclusive knowledge of the meeting that Kanye’s main concern and topic at the meeting was issues in Chicago. The rapper did not give any specific details on the meeting, but when he went to Trump Tower he had an entourage with him and also a videographer. Hopefully, we get a close-up of the meeting at a later time.
