J.K. Rowling Speaks out Against Mike Pence

J.K Rowling has taken us to magical wizardry schools and has been a staple of all our childhood bookshelves, but now she may add Queen of Sass to that that list of many accomplishments. The Harry Potter author recently called out Vice President Mike Pence with a single tweet regarding the Muslim Ban that was issued by President Donald Trump. Rowling referenced a Bible quote tweeting,

'For what will it profit a man if he gains the whole world and forfeits his soul?' Matthew 16:26

This was aimed at Pence over a tweet that he posted back in December 2015 expressing his distaste for a Muslim ban tweeting,

“Calls to ban Muslims from entering the U.S. are offensive and unconstitutional.”

The ban has been the subject of much controversy over the last couple of days. It has even made it to the Academy Awards stage with one of the nominees for Best Foreign Film (AsgharFarhadi, director of The Salesman) not being able to attend the awards show because of the circumstances.

Rowling has never been one to be silent in times when there is much going on around the world. The tweet quickly gained momentum in the social media atmosphere gaining 25,000 retweets and many more mentions. Although not all of them were positive towards Rowling’s views, it sure is welcoming to see that the very woman who captured our hearts with magic and the power of love is still spreading that message across every platform the eye can see.
