Ivanka Trump Steps Down From Fashion Label
Ivanka Trump is not just the daughter of the future president, but she is the creator of her own fashion brand named after herself, Ivanka Trump. On Friday, January 20, 2017 she said she will take time to settle her children into their new Washington D.C. home and schools. The family will be moving to D.C. now that her husband, Jared Kushner, accepted a job as senior adviser to his father in law Donald Trump. It is also rumored that Ivanka Trump may play a major role herself in her father’s presidency.
This Trump is no rookie in the fashion industry, what initially started out as a jewelry company in 2007, the Ivanka Trump brand, is now believed to be worth $100 million. On January 11, Ivanka Trump made the announcement in a Facebook post on her personal page. She wrote,
“I will no longer be involved with the management or operations of either company.”
Trump has made, Abigail Klem, the president of the company, to lead the brand during her absence. She also commented on Klem on her Facebook page saying,
“I am confident that under her leadership the company will continue creating smart, solution-oriented product and content.”
Klem will work with a board of trustees to manage the day-to-day operations of the business. Trump has been distancing herself from her fashion brand since Election Day. She was scrutinized for using her appearance on 60 Minutes as a way to sell what she wore on television. The brand is expected to expand to lingerie and unfortunately for Trump she will not be a part of that venture.
