Is Netflix Hinting At Another Season In The Gilmore Girls Revival?
On November 27, 2016 Netflix dropped viewers back into the town of Stars Hollow and the lives of the beloved Gilmore Girls, Lorelai (Lauren Graham) and Rory (Alexis). In the much-anticipated revival, Gilmore Girls: A Year in the Life, fans were given another chance to live vicariously through the fast-talking mother daughter duo.
A month after the revival hit the streaming platform, Netflix tweeted a cryptic picture that has fans questioning whether it was simply Netflix trying to be funny or a subtle hint at another Year in the Life to come. For any long-time Gilmore Girls fans Netflix's December 28th tweet brings up some *bitter* memories from the show's sixth and seventh seasons in the form of April Nardini (Vanessa Marano).
(Warning! Spoiler ahead!)
In the sixth season of Gilmore Girls fans were introduced to Luke Danes’s (Scott Patterson) infamous daughter. April was dead set on winning her school’s science fair. To do that, she chose to test the DNA of three men who have equal possibility of being her father and present her findings at the science fair. Just like that Lorelai’s long time love interest, Luke Danes became the proud new father of a twelve-year-old daughter he never knew existed.
Fast forward ten years to the Fall episode of Gilmore Girls: A Year in the Life, where viewers learned that Rory Gilmore is pregnant. Fans are left wondering which of the three possible fathers – Logan (Matt Czuchry), Paul (Jack Carpenter), or a random man in a Wookiee costume – is Rory’s baby daddy? A few days ago, Netflix tweeted this picture captioned
“Where’s an eighth-grade science fair when you need one?”
Netflix has since received a swarm of replies to this tweet from fans wondering if this is a sneaky way of announcing a second season. So far, Netflix has not released any statements confirming or denying the rumors as to whether there will be another season.
