How To Save Money This Holiday Season
Am I the only one already stressing out about Christmas shopping? And I love gift giving. I love picking out thoughtful gifts for the people I love. But come Christmas time it becomes increasingly obvious that I love a lot of people and it’s always reflected in my bank account. Here are some ways you can watch your account balance this holiday season.
I find that I spend less money when I choose to pay cash instead of card. This is a tip I use year round. It’s just so easy to use your card and not think about it. But when you only withdraw $50, you’ll only spend $50. It also reaffirms that I’m spending my hard earned money because I can actually see it leaving me.
There are so many deals around the holidays but it’s so easy to impulse buy the first thing you see. Try to find a buy one get one deal. I feel like this happens a lot in the accessory section. You can get different items for your friends that all fall under the same deal.
Make a Christmas List
Curate a Christmas list of everything you want to buy people. Have a set total in mind that you want to spend. Then research! Find out the approximate cost for everything. Try to make sure everyone is happy and you are still in budget. Do this as early as you can. As well as saving money, it will save you last minute stress when you can’t think of anything to buy your cousin two days before Christmas.
I know, I love going into stores too. But maybe Christmas shopping online might be the best way to go. You can make sure you find the best price for everything pretty easily and you won’t be tempted to impulse buy anything extra like you would in a store. I find I spend way less money online shopping when I have a specific item in mind compared to when I browse a whole store and end up trying on three sweaters I don’t need.
