Hollywood Icon Carrie Fisher Dies at 60 From A Heart Attack
Icon Carrie Fisher passed away Tuesday, December 27 from a massive heart attack. Carrie Fisher was best known for her role in 'Star Wars' as Princess Leia Organa.
Not only was Fisher an actress she was also a screenwriter, an author, a producer, and a public speaker. On Friday, December 23, Fisher went into cardiac arrest while on a flight from London to Los Angeles. A fellow actress, Anna Akana, was seated near Fisher and noticed that she had stopped breathing. A passenger near by performed CPR on Fisher until paramedics arrived.
A family friend released a statement confirming her death:
It is with a very deep sadness that Billie Lourd confirms that her beloved mother Carrie Fisher passed away at 8:55 this morning.
She was loved by the world and she will be missed profoundly. Our entire family thanks you for your thoughts and prayers.
