H&M New Line Includes Clothes Made Out Of Plastic
H&M is the trendy clothing store that everyone (and we mean everyone including your mom and grandmother) has visited at least once. You may not have known but H&M can be very eco-friendly. They have launched their Conscious Exclusive collection, made of at least 50 percent sustainable or recycled materials. This isn't a new line for the clothing brand the line debuted in 2010.
One of the gowns in the collection modeled by supermodel, Natalia Vodianova, was manufactured from recycled plastic. Vodianova spoke with Glamour magazine and walked them through her favorite pieces.
“I’m in love with the pleated evening gown made from recycled waste,” she says, referring to the dress created from Bionic fabric, made of recovered shoreline plastic, such as bottles.
The collection includes more than just gowns, there are accessories, bags, men's clothes and for the first time selections for children. The accessories include a fishnet bag made entirely from recycled shoreline waste, as well as quirky and elegant earrings made from recycled glass and plastic. This collection looks like a line that everyone can rock. Pernilla Wohlfahrt, H&M's Head of Design and Creative Director said the mission for the Conscious Exclusive collection is,
" ...we thought not only about the look of the pieces, but also how they feel and sound. It's a collection to please all our senses, and also our desire to be sustainable in everything we do."
This collection is very important to have at this time when just in 2014 84 percent of unwanted clothes and footwear in the United States went to a landfill or an incinerator.
You can get the Conscious Exclusive collection in stores and online April 20th.
