Helpful DIY Hair Masks

With the way we treat our hair, dying it, using heated styling tools, not touching your hair for a few days then having to detangle it and breaking some of it in the process, this can wear out hair out. Making it more brittle, dry, and hard to manage. And just like how your face needs some TLC, so does your hair. Today I will be giving you some DIY recipes that you can do to make hair masks with everyday products you probably already have laying around your house.

Avocado and Olive Oil Hair Mask

Ingredients:

●     1 ripe avocado, smashed

●     2 tablespoons of olive oil

●     2 tablespoons of honey for extra hydration

What it does:

●      Olive oil is full of omega-3 fatty acids. These acids help with hair growth, shine, and strength. They’re also full of antioxidants, which help fight off hair-aging free radicals.

●      Avocado provides amino acids and proteins which help with hair production process. It also moisturizes dry hair and soothes a dry scalp. This mask is great for dry, damaged hair.

How to:

Blend ingredients and apply in small sections to clean, damp hair. Cover hair with a shower cap for 30 to 60 minutes. Shampoo out and condition as usual.

Eggs, Mayonnaise, Olive Oil and Honey Hair Mask

Ingredients:

●     1 egg

●     2 tablespoons of mayonnaise

●     1 tablespoon of olive oil

●     1 tablespoon of honey

What it does:

●      The Lipids in mayonnaise help hair absorb moisture and fatty acids, nourishing hair follicles.

●      Olive oil and honey provide antioxidant and moisturizing benefits.

●      Egg protein helps strengthen hair.

●      This is a great mask for curly hair. It provides moisture to keep frizz at bay, without weighing hair down.

How to:

Combine ingredients and blend. Apply in small sections to clean, damp hair. Cover hair with a shower cap for 30 to 60 minutes. Shampoo and condition as usual.

 

Coconut Oil and Honey Hair Mask

Ingredients:

●      2 to 4 tablespoons of coconut oil

●      1 tablespoon of honey

What it does:

●      This mask is especially good for those with fine to medium hair.

●      Coconut oil helps protect the natural proteins in hair. This is good for those who lack protein in their hair follicles. Vitamin E in the coconut oil provides antioxidant benefits.

●      Lauric acid helps the emollient properties of honey penetrate deep into the hair shaft.

How To:

Blend ingredients and apply in small sections to clean, damp hair. Cover hair with a shower cap for 30 to 60 minutes. Shampoo out, and condition.
