Hellotittie Paint It Pink Art Event
October is the month of breast cancer awareness, and doing all that we can to bring light to finding a cure. For a few artists at a downtown Brooklyn gallery called, The Living Gallery. the collection presented showed nothing less than a want and desire to say what we all are thinking: Fuck cancer.
From large set pieces to custom timberland shoes, the display was full of colors, creativity, and a subtle, yet prominent underlying theme of the reality, that is breast cancer. An illness that claims thousands of lives each year. While science has made large scale steps toward finding the cure, there still is a long way to go. Although the reality of breast cancer may have been the theme for these creations, they all projected the beauty that is the disease. The beauty of the strength it takes millions of men and women every year to go through treatment. The beauty of the courage and sheer willpower that has kept survivors pushing forward regardless of their shortcomings. The beauty that is the fight. A fight that we continue to stand behind.
By the end of the show, there was a genuine aesthetic of love and togetherness in the room. A unanimous vigor and vitality among artists and spectators. Overall, a night well spent for a cause that is too real for too many people.
