Heath Ledger Gives Us Major Feels in New 'I Am Heath Ledger' Footage
The announcement for the new Heath Ledger documentary has already hit a soft one in many dear fans of the deceased Oscar-winning actor. Ledger’s death is as much of a shock now as it was back on that dreary day in January 2008. The new Spike TV documentary 'I Am Heath Ledger' has recently released some footage that shows the actor in a much more positive and happy state as opposed to his dark struggles he faced during that time. Ledger was battling a prescription drug addiction that ultimately became a contributor to his sudden death.
A visibly younger Ledger can be seen chilling out, playing with his acoustic guitar and goofing around with a handheld camcorder. The actor was dealing with many different issues up until his untimely death including his split from actress Michelle Williams (mother of his young daughter Matilda), a battle with insomnia and a sort of pneumonia-type illness. According to Gerry Grennell, a friend of Ledger, he was not in a good place mentally as well at the time saying
"He missed his girl, he missed his family, he missed his little girl—he desperately wanted to see her and hold her and play with her. He was desperately unhappy, desperately sad."-via People Magazine
Ledger was truly a special soul that left us way too soon. It’s wonderful to be able to catch a glimpse of the actor in his happier times, and see where all that charm of his came from. Hopefully this can be a chance for Ledger’s daughter to see a little bit more of how incredible of an actor, and man that her father was. The special will be airing on May 27th on Spike TV.
