Halsey Responds To Victoria's Secret's Transphobic Comments
Singer and Songwriter, Halsey took to Instagram to join the masses in expressing her disappointment at Victoria’s Secret and their lack of inclusivity. The ‘Bad at Love” singer preformed at their annual Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show on Dec 2nd, but when CMO Ed Razek’s transphobic comments were made public she made it clear that she stands in solidarity with the LGBT community.
"As a member of the LGBTQ+ community, I have no tolerance for a lack of inclusivity. Especially not one motivated by stereotype," she wrote.
Halsey, who identifies as bi-sexual, performed at the pre-recorded show alongside Shawn Mendes, Bebe Rexa, and The Chainsmokers and has been the only performer to speak out.
In a Vogue interview, Razek shared why he didn’t include any transgendered women in the shows when asked, "Shouldn’t you have transsexuals in the show?” He responded by saying, “No. No, I don’t think we should…the show is a fantasy. It’s a 42-minute entertainment special. That’s what it is. It is the only one of its kind in the world, and any other fashion brand in the world would take it in a minute, including the competitors that are carping at us. And they carp at us because we’re the leader."
Razek and Victoria’s Secret as a brand had been under fire for not only transphobic comments, but for not including any plus sized models. What do you think? Is it time to cancel this brand?
