The 59th Grammy Nominations are in! Drum Roll Please!
The 59th Grammy Award nominations are in and female artists are taking the lead. Beyoncé, Adele, Rihanna, Kelesea Ballerini, Ariana Grande, Demi Lovato and Sia are a few of the women nominated. Beyoncé snagged the most with nine nominations under her belt from her 'Lemonade' album. Beyonce was nominated in categories from album of the year, song of the year and record of the year. Rihanna has eight nominations from her ‘Anti’ album and Adele has five for her album '25’. Meaghan Trainor on CBS announced the nominations for best new artist; record of the year and album of the year live and the rest were published online.
Around 13,000 people in the music industry voted and made their selections. Both Beyoncé and Adele had very strong record sales this year, which helped the music industry. Beyoncé is the most nominated musician in history with 62 nominations. If she wins all her nominations next year she will have the most Grammy wins ever. Taking that title from another female musician Alison Krauss who has 27 Grammy’s. Beyoncé will also have more Grammy‘s then Ella Fitzgerald who was the first African- American women to win a Grammy. Fitzgerald would go on to win 14 Grammys in her lifetime.
Female artists have really dominated the music industry so it is not a surprise that they are going to be a force to be reckoned with at the Grammys next year.
