Fifth Harmony's Normani Enters The World Of Fashion

You know her as a part of the girl group Fifth Harmony, but now she is taking on a new role. Following the Fifth Harmony hiatus announcement in March, the singer is ready to branch out and try new things. Normani just signed a new modeling contract with Wilhelmina, where she will join celebrities like Shawn Mendes and Nicki Minaj.

“Now, more than ever, I feel like music and fashion play off of each other with music being one of the great influences and artists dominating in the fashion space as well,” she told Vogue. "It’s something that I wanted to be part of.”

Even with her amazing fashion taste and great style, Normani knows she is a rookie in the industry and hopes in the future to set her mark in the fashion world. First, she must educate herself on fashion, and she plans on doing that by going to every fashion week show she can. Growing up the young singer never remembered seeing many models or people in the fashion industry that she could relate to. There was one model she looked up to who made her feel like she could also be in fashion, and that beauty comes in all different forms.

“Being a young African-American female, having someone to represent me, whether I was looking at a magazine or on a runway at a fashion show, [seeing her,] I felt like I could do the same exact thing—she made me feel like I could also walk the runway, even though I’m about 5 foot 4.“That’s the cool thing, especially during this time. There’s such a versatility. Beauty comes in all forms and all skin colors.”

Now Normani is in a position to provide girls with that same kind of motivation that she got from Naomi Campell. She is apart of a new group of young ladies in fashion who are going to make the industry more inclusive.
