Exciting News! Katy Perry is Officially a Judge on the American Idol Revival!
Looks like the revival of American Idol is not shying away when it comes to famous judges. It has just been revealed that megastar Katy Perry has just officially signed on to be one of Idol’s new mentors/judges!
In a statement from Perry:
"I am honored and thrilled to be the first judge bringing back the American Idol tradition of making dreams come true for incredible talents with authentic personalities and real stories. I'm always listening to new music, and love discovering diamonds in the rough—from mentoring young artists on my label, or highlighting new artists on my tours, I want to bring it back to the music.”
The big announcement was made by ABC network at the Upfront presentation, in New York City this passed Tuesday. This will not be Perry’s first take at the legendary Idol table. The star was a guest judge on the original series back in 2009 when longtime judge Paula Abdul had left the show. The original show had ended its 15-season run last year. The one big difference in Idol’s comeback now is the switch of networks. Originally a staple of Fox, its big revival is now in the hands of ABC. The show will be back on the airwaves in 2018. I know it’s been only a year but…AMERICAN IDOL IS BACK BABY! Hopefully Simon Cowell could make an appearance with his signature snarky attitude.
