Demi Lovato Isn’t Here For People Fat Shaming Women

Demi Lovato spoke out against an offensive Instagram Ad that had one female animated character described as "pretty" while another character as "obese." The singer/actress called the ad comparing the two “absolutely harmful to anyone who is easily influenced by societal pressures”. The sponsored ad was for the game "Game of Sultans".

Lovato took to her story and voiced her outrage. “Why is this fat shaming bulls–t on my feed? So many things wrong with this ad,” she wrote over a screenshot. “You can be ‘pretty’ at any weight.” The “Confident” singer has previously opened up about her experiences with bulimia that she was diagnosed with at the age of 18.

The now 26 year old star criticized the ad and “the diet culture” that pressures people to constantly be losing weight. Instagram apologized for the ad, saying, "We're sorry. This ad was approved by mistake. We reviewed it again and removed it from future delivery in people's feeds." Chuck that up for a win for Demi!
