Clothing Line Missguided Addresses Diversity With New Campaign
The British brand Missguided has become the new clothing store for young women everywhere, with something for all different types of styles. The clothing line is launching a new campaign, #InYourOwnSkin, that will celebrate "what the industry perceives as 'flaws' the brand stated in a press release. Their mission is to promote body diversity and to address the discussion and value of beauty. The campaign features six women who have different "imperfections” like albinism, burn marks, skin conditions like Epidermolysis Bullosa (EB) and psoriasis.
"These women own it. They have attitude. They are proud of who they are. They inspire confidence. They want you to love your body (it's the only one you've got!)," stated a press release for the #InYourOwnSkin campaign.
Here are three women featured in the campaign.
"Beauty is the feeling of self-confidence," the college student said in a statement. Isabella burned herself when her shirt got caught in a house fire when she was 17. Through her modeling, she wants to normalize disabilities and disfigurements.
Mariana is a Brazilian model and fashion designer and says she "learnt to love the way she looks and empowers others through body positivity on social media."
Joanne, who has albinism, says
"my role in life is not to be accepted by society, I live fearlessly, and I am unapologetically me."
The campaign makes a powerful statement about perfection, self-love, and empowerment.
