Chromat Makes Big Statement With Diverse Runway Show At NYFW

On Friday, American fashion label Chromat put on one of the most diverse runway shows ever at New York Fashion Week. As a curvy model walked down the runway wearing a statement t-shirt that said “Sample Size,” it caused a big stir.

The shirt implied that a curvy woman can be considered “sample size,” which is a big statement to make in the fashion industry. Typically, a “sample size” in the fashion world is a size 0. Chromat’s diverse show featured a lineup of models of all sizes and ethnicities. Most notably, amputee and activist Mama Cax walked the show, as did breast cancer survivor Ericka Hart.

This show represented an important time of change for the body positive. Curvy models are being represented on the runways more than ever before. The show proves that fashion is for women of all shapes and sizes and it further empowered plus-size women as well as effect change. Thank you Chromat for sending this beautiful message!
