Chloe Grace Moretz New Film Is Under Fire For Body Shaming

Chloe Grace Moretz, new film 'Red Shoes & the 7 Dwarfs' is already surrounded by controversy, and there isn't even a release date for the film. The trailer for the film was just recently released, and it was not received well. Based on the trailer the movie is being accused of body shaming plus size women. This animated Snow White spin-off is about a princess, who lost her beauty, due to a curse and must seek magical red shoes in order to break the curse.

The trailer depicted a tall, thin woman in red heels next to a shorter, heavier version of herself holding her heels. Overweight Snow White was considered cursed and needed to be saved. There is nothing right about that message, there should be no definition of beauty, and "fat" shouldn't equate to 'ugly". Social media went into action to rightfully accuse the film of body shaming. To make matters worse the tagline for the film is, "What if Snow White was no longer beautiful and the 7 Dwarfs not so short?"

Moretz, who will voice the led character Snow White, is not happy with the way the film is being promoted and tried to defend the film on Twitter; saying it has a powerful message for women. It is surprising that the marketing team for the film approved this since we are living in a time where many people do not accept body shaming. Many people are trying to create content that diffuses the ideologies that may be presented in ‘Red Shoes & the 7 Dwarfs’ and this film seems to be taking a step in the wrong direction.
