Cara Delevingne New Jimmy Choo Ad Stirs Up Controversy
Cara Delevingne is involved in a controversial Jimmy Choo ad that many people found to be sexist. Given recent sexual harassment cases of high profile men, the ad is very tone death since everything in media right now is being scrutinized.
The Jimmy Choo ad follows the model on a night out while wearing glittery boots from the brand's Cruise 2018 collection. While walking down the street, Delevingne invites catcalling comments, stares, and car horns. The ad can be looked at as glamorizes and romanticizing catcalling. It may not seem like a big deal, but people definitely took notice of it and were not happy.
Jimmy Choo's Creative Director Sandra Choi released a press release for the ad and didn't bother to mention the sexist undertones.
"The shoot and film both perfectly capture the sense of anticipation and infectious energy that a night out can bring."
Many people on social media were surprised that Delevingne would be apart of this ad since she was a major part of the #MeToo movement. The movement was formed in the wake of allegations made against Hollywood producer Harvey Weinstein.
