Books You Can Read To Recharge

I may be a bibliophile but nothing centers me more than a good book. It relieves stress, distracts me in a healthy way, and gives my mind a good break from another half hour of time spent looking at instagram. Here are some classic books that are sure recharge your spirit and give your eyes a well needed rest from the screen.

“On the Road” by Jack Kerouac

It’s a classic. I think it’s basically required reading if you’re a millennial. Traveling across the country with a great friend and nothing but the future ahead of you. Makes you feel grounded where you are yet gives you courage to explore something bigger.

“Wuthering Heights” by Emily Brontë

Ugh, this book will just always get me. This is a sweeping, painful romance. “He’s more myself than I am.” LIKE DEAR GOD. It kills me every damn time. It builds you up and tears you down. If you need a good cry, crack this book open.

“Big Magic: Creative Living Beyond Fear” by Elizabeth Gilbert

Gilbert is the author of “Eat, Pray, Love” which sounds kind of sappy but this book is far from it. Found in the self-help section, it brings you guidance, confidence, clarity, and inspiration to pursue any creative endeavors you’ve been saving for a rainy day.

“Red Rising” by Pierce Brown

I just finished this book and it was thrilling. I would say it’s a mix between “Harry Potter” and “The Hunger Games”. In a dystopian society where your rank is a color, we follow a badass 16 year old boy rise through the ranks to avenge his family. It’s also a trilogy so this series will keep you busy.

“All the Lives I Want” by Alana Massey

This book is a collection of essays from columnist, Alana Massey. Each essay is centered around a female celebrity of our time and discusses how their influence in pop cultures actually affects us. Very interesting and engaging. Each chapter is it’s own narrative, so it’s great for just a quick reading break.

Any books you recommend? I would love to read them! xoxo
