Barack's Tribute to Wife Michelle Obama Reminds Us She Is The Role Model We All Need
This past Tuesday, January 10th, 2017, President Barack Obama addressed the United States one final time in his farewell address. Although the entirety of his speech moved us to tears, it is the part where he mentions his wife and the First Lady that reminded us how much we still need Michelle Obama’s influence going forward.
Barack teared up as he spoke about his wife saying, “Michelle Lavaughn Robinson, girl of the South Side -- for the past 25 years, you have not only been my wife, the mother of my children, you have been my best friend. You took on a job you didn't ask for, and you made it your own with grace and with grit and with style and good humor.
Michelle Obama has been a guiding force in this country ever since taking on the White House alongside her husband. She has proved to be an unparalleled role model for women and girls of all racial, cultural, and economic backgrounds and has accomplished so much for our country since her first day as FLOTUS.
Since Barack Obama’s 2008 win, Michelle has instituted the Let’s Move Program, the Joining Forces Initiative, the Reach Higher Initiative, and the Let Girls Learn initiative among many other positive advances for the American people. She has been a driving force behind education reform and fighting childhood obesity in America.
Following President Obama’s Farewell Address, Michelle took to Instagram to show her gratitude for her husband, family, and the country we were lucky enough to have them serve for the past 8 years.
Michelle Obama’s role for the American people has been an incredible one to witness. She is the role model we all hope to find. Michelle is a truly remarkable woman.
