Did any of us ever not hear of American Girl dolls when growing up? They were such a staple of our childhoods. With having the opportunity to have your own little mini me and be able to dress the doll up just like you, or go to the American Girl Café in Manhattan to have tea and goodies with your new friend. I remember every little girl (me included) being obsessed with these dolls, and the joy they bought to so many of us. Following in the footsteps of some recent companies that have been appealing to the male demographic more (Covergirl announcing their first ever Cover Boy James Charles) American Girl has just announced that they will be releasing their first ever boy doll on Feb. 16!

Just like dolls in previous collections, the new boy doll has a name, which is Logan Everett, and he is musician who plays the drums alongside his fellow doll pall Tenny Grant. The brand that was first established in 1986 has come a long way in the past 25 years.  It’s refreshing to see a children’s brand taking a step in the same direction that Cover girl cosmetics has in opening up their company and products to more then just the usual consumer. The age-old ideal that dolls are strictly a girl’s toy has been dying down slowly over the past few years. Hopefully this may be the first of many children’s toy’s companies to take the leap into more inclusive merchandise among children for the near future!
