Adele Pays Honor to Beyoncé’s Lemonade Album During Grammy Acceptance Speech

The Grammy Awards aired this past Sunday night and it had many incredible talented performances from Adele, Beyonce, Bruno Mars and many more. There were some first time winners across the board (Twenty One Pilots and Chance the Rapper) and a couple of familiar faces to grasp that prestigious golden statue (Beyonce and Adele). Adele took home the top three trophies throughout the night including Album of the Year, Record of the Year, and Song of the Year. It wasn’t until Adele took the stage for her acceptance speech for Album of the Year that the night took an unexpected turn.

While Adele did thank the Academy for the huge honor, she took the opportunity to acknowledge her fellow nominee Beyonce and her album 'Lemonade' for being more worthy of the award then Adele herself.

“I can’t possibly accept this award and I’m very humble and gracious but the artist of my life is Beyoncé and the Lemonade album was just so monumental and so well thought out and so beautiful and soul-baring." - said Adele.

She then went on to thank Beyonce who was a bit teary eyed in the audience for her music and the impact it has had on not only Adele alone, but her closest friends as well. Beyonce could be seen mouthing, “I love you” to the British singer/ songwriter during her acceptance speech and looked truly blessed and thankful in front of the emotional Album of the Year winner. Adele took the moment to shine a light on Queen B, and to let her know the power that she has given to women of all colors. It was quite amazing to witness two highly established artists taking the time to honor and embrace each others talents and influence. The music industry is one that can seem superficial at times, but it’s moments like this that remind us what the power of artistry and creativity can project to the world, and the influence it can spread.
